More than a festival
The first Durga Puja in Delhi was held around 1910, when it was performed by ritually consecrating the 'mangal kalash' symbolizing the deity. This Durga Puja, known as the Kashmere Gate Durga Puja, is currently organized by the Delhi Durga Puja Samiti.
In Bengal, Durga Puja is the season when the goddess comes home — and everyone leaves their door open. Food travels, strangers become cousins, and the neighbourhood stays awake a little longer.
Udaan is bringing that generous spirit to Whitefield. Not as a performance of tradition, but as a living one: shaped by the families, students, founders, grandparents and curious neighbours who call this part of Bengaluru home.
“You do not need to know the words to belong in the chorus.”
